NEWS REVIEW - PUBLISHED ON JUNE 22ND 2009
Britain news wrap-up
AUTOSPORT brings you a Monday morning summary of the biggest headlines from throughout the Formula 1 weekend

  By Matt Beer

The British Grand Prix did take place last weekend, and Sebastian Vettel won it in commanding style, but it would have been easy to overlook this as the row between the FIA and FOTA escalated beyond comprehension at Silverstone.

The bombshell news that FOTA had committed to launching a breakaway series in 2010, and the variously conciliatory and aggressive responses from both sides, inevitably dominated the entire weekend, which ended with matters far from resolved either way.

Amid the political chaos, new uncertainty about the British GP's future too - as the danger of the race falling off the calendar all but vanished, but the prospect of it staying at Silverstone after all grew stronger, although Donington Park remained bullish too.

On track, the story was Red Bull's dominance and Brawn and Jenson Button's first notable slump, and whether that would become the pattern for the next phase of the season.
