• Jenson Button finished second in 2004 and took another podium with third a year later. Out of nine starts, he has only been on the front row once - in 2005.

• Lewis Hamilton won the 2008 race after fighting back from a late-stop during a safety car intervention. He was unlucky in last year's Nurburgring race – he had the chance to fight for pole, but changing weather conditions put him fifth. He took the lead at the start but was touched from behind, puncturing his rear tyre.
